What Should Parents and Guardians Know About Antimicrobial Resistance?

Parents should be especially informed about AMR as children are much more vulnerable to infections from them. AMR can make everyday illnesses more severe and harder to treat, and the health and safety of the child falls to them.

We have a responsibility to use antibiotics correctly and only when prescribed, and as children are unable to do this, the responsibility falls to us.

The same applies to teaching good hygiene and following medical advice, to help slow the spread AMR and create a safer              environment to live in.

AMR leads to longer infections, more frequent hospital visits, and higher medical costs for families. All these burdens fall to the    parents, which is why it is so Important that they are the first informed, as they will be most affected by it.
